Visual Narrative Basics and Picking Apart the Panels

I am an avid lover of comics and I feel that they relate to illustration and design because of the way that they are visually constructed and layed inside and outside of panels. I'm particularly a fan of graphic novels simply because of the rich illustration that goes into each and every panel and the continuity that it creates as a visual narrative for the reader. "Sailor Moon", was and still is my favorite graphic novel to this day because of the rich illustration and design Naoko Takeuchi put into the series. The intricate story lines within the series kept me engaged and wanting to read more and more to see what would happen next in the series.

Sunday

This was sent to me via email by a dear friend of mine to help encourage me as I delve deep into the feelings that subsequently come up surrounding my father's passing 5 years ago. I only feel now like I am still within the mourning process but it helps when I talk about how I feel about his passing and what kind of person he is. My friend Erin really made me think about not focusing so much on the loss but to truly celebrate his life and how he inspired me to be who I am today as a person and how proud he is of me. The Scripture, Romans 8:18: "I consider that our present sufferings are not worth comparing with the glory that will be revealed in us." This really encouraged me to continue to put my hope and faith and trust in the one above and to remember how He was my father first before my earthly father.
